Our Process

Step 1: Request Your Quote

Simply contact us and give Matrixwebs consultants a rough idea what you are looking for. We will either schedule a call with you for more details or get them from you at this point.

Step 2: Analyze & Plan

The business analysis is the planning phase and the first step in our process. Our consultants will meet with you to determine your web requirements and needs. We look deeper into certain business functions and determine ways in which technology can improve overall efficiencies of your business by reducing costs, improving sales, or improving overall communication and service to your clients.

Step 3: Quote & Proposed Timeline

Once we have completed the analysis we will provide a detailed recommendation, proposal, quote, and timeline on how we can help your business to be more productive and profitable online.

Step 4: Creative Design

The creative design is where you will meet (either here or on the phone) with our Project Manager and Artwork Developers to define the creative concept for the website. In some cases, clients have an idea how they would like their website to look. In other cases, clients require a significant amount of guidance. We can provide as much guidance as needed from creating a logo and corporate letterhead for you, or we can follow the lead of your marketing materials. The development team reviews all of the requirements before the project is submitted to design. They will alert the designers of any special requirements that should be factored into the design.

When the creative concept is delivered we will provide a web link to view the concept through your web browser. The client will have the ability to make any changes to the concept draft at this point. The creative concept can include home and interior page looks, with the ability to add design time to improve or enhance the design. When the creative concept is approved we will provide a layout draft, showing all the pages. The client will have another opportunity to make changes.

Step 5: Programming / Database Development

The development of the website will begin once the creative design phase is approved by the client. Once the creative stage is complete we have our programmers start working on coding the database to work with the creative designers layouts. This is where the pages and programs that were part of your requirements are created. We create a database in a SQL source server for development. We then write the programs that interface with this database. All coding is completed on a source server. If the site does not use a database the coders simply create the pages for the site. If there are any other special programs, custom applications, or data import it is completed at this stage.

Step 6: Integration

During this phase of the project, the website is built. The development team will cut up and create the design templates.

The client will be able to view a fully functioning version of the website on one of our staging servers. This is called the stage site. The client will have the ability to review the website through their web browser and request a final round of changes. Once all of the changes are implemented, the website is handed over to Quality Assurance.

Step 7: Quality Assurance

The Quality Assurance team officially receives the project once the development draft is complete. However, they will are involved behind the scenes throughout the lifecycle of the project. The Q/A team will review the functional requirements of the functional design and test the website to ensure all products are functioning as required.

They will test any custom development work that was done to the products, determine overall usability and will test load times of the website on various browser version, such as IE 5.1, IE 5.5, IE 6, Gecko-based browsers (Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape), and Mac-based browsers(Safari, Firefox, IE 5.2). Once Quality Assurance signs off on the project, the website is ready for launch.

Step 8: Customer Check

The site is left on a stage server for testing by your or your staff. Sometimes clients even have their customers test the site. We are available for feedback on the site and will make any changes needed. If there is a control panel associated with your site, our Project Manager will train you on how to use it.

Step 9: Launch

If we are hosting your new website, we will need to coordinate with the administrator of your domain to re-point your domain to our web servers where your website will reside. If your website is being hosted at another provider we will require FTP access to load all the new website files, and test any database connectivity to the providers SQL server. It is important that this be identified during the Analyze and Plan stage. Some web hosting companies cannot handle our default language.

We will also review your e-mail situation. If we are providing email services, we will create all the mail boxes and provide you with correct server information. If mail is being provided elsewhere, we will create a mail exchange record in our DNS servers to point to your mail server.

If you don't have a domain name, or are completely confused with the DNS transfers and mail records don't worry! Matrixwebs will walk you through the process and explain the steps needed to making a DNS transfer.

Step 10: Market and Manage

Once your website has launched, Matrixwebs will teach you how to use your website and the tools provided. In many cases our clients have complete control over their own website and can change many parts using the tools we've built into the website. In addition any site we create can be hosted on other providers and 98% of the code can be moved to other developers.

Because of the hard work done up front during the functional design phase, we will know what to expect when the website goes live. We will review the requirements and set deliverables to determine how the website is performing. With the right goals and proper planning your website will exceed ALL expectations.

The important thing is to continue to review the website and look at what else is going "online" in your industry. Matrixwebs will help in this process by becoming your long-term partner, keeping you abreast of the latest trends and technologies on the web.

Additionally, we also offer plans to manage the website and keep the code base up to date. These plans also cover minor changes. However, the plans are not required.
